TAXPAYERS representing $10,000,000 in
property interests have made a protest before
the Westchester County Board of Supervisors
against the building of a tuberculosis hospital,
to cost $200.UOii. on the Hatfield property in
North White Plains. .\mong those who ob-'
jected were former Supreme Court Justice
Charles F. McLead and Felix M. Warburg. It
was asserted the hospital will bring 1,200 con¬
sumptives to the vicinity of the county seat and
wi.l be a detriment to the health of the resi¬
dents.
IT WAS LEARNED this week that the Betz
Building, at the southeast corner of Broad
st and S. Penn sq., Philadelphia, has been bought
by John Wanamaker from John F. Betz. 3d,
for $2,150,000. The building was the fourth
skyscraper built in Philadelphia. Xothing au¬
thoritative regarding Mr. Wanamaker's purpose
in purchasing the property could be learned,
but it was reported that he wanted il as a
home for The Philadelphia Record, whose pres¬
ent property at .Xos. 917 and 919 Chestnut st
is said lo be needed hy the Government for the
enlargement of the Post-Offlce at 9th and Chest¬
nut sts.
