OBITUARY JOHN H. LEITH, general contractor, builder of a number of high class apartments on the u^per West Side of Manhattan, died suddenly of heart disease at Pleasant Valley, N. Y., Tues¬ day, April 14. He was born in Landon fifty- two years ago and had lived for a number of years at 150 Wilson av. Flushing, L. I. He is survived by his widow and two daughters. ALFRED NOBLE, a distinguished engineer who specialized in railroad, tunnel and canal work, died at St. Luke's Hospital, N. Y. C, Sunday, April 10. He was born in Michigan, August 7, 1844, and was graduated -from tho^ University ot Michigan in 1870. During the- Civil War he served in the Army of the Poto¬ mac tor three yeara. Mr. Noble has served on many importapt hoarda and commiasioQs, heing active on the Nicaragua Canal Board In 1895. the U. S. Board of Bngineera on Deep Water¬ ways in 1899-1900, and on the Isthmian Canal Commission from 1899 to 1908, He came to New York City in 1902 and was chief engineer in charge of the East River tunnels for the Pennsylvania and Long Island Railroads.
