The plans and specihcations for this operation were prepared by Louis Al¬ len Abramson, architect, 2ZU Broadway, who has had a most successful expe¬ rience in designing and planning struc¬ tures of this character. Thomas J. Bird, JU East 4^d street, was the steel engi¬ neer, and Chauncey Matlock, 30 East 4^d street, was the engineer in charge of the plumbing, heating, and ventila¬ tion, lhe builaing will represent the expenditure of more than $150,000. The construction of this building was under the direction of A. L. Mordecai & Son, 30 East 42d street, who obtained tue general contract and the follow¬ ing concerns supplied labor and mate¬ rials for the work: Jacob Volk House Wrecking Co., 103 Park avenue, wreck¬ ing; Hinkle Iron Co., 534 West 56th street, structural steel; Micwiel Co., 162 East 23d street, mason work; James H. Young Stone Co., Locust avenue and lo6th street, limestone; Annett & Mc- man avenue, Brooklyn, ornamental iron; Lasette ik Murphy, 238 West 108th street, plumbing; Jackson Mantle & Grate Works, 2 West 33d street, tile; South¬ ern & Marshall, 247 East 43d street, in¬ terior trim; Jacobson fit Co,, 241 East 44th street, plain and ornamental plas¬ tering; Voska, Foelsch & Sidlo, 61 Mills street, Astoria, L. I.; Hyman Denker, 5 West lllth street, painting, and Cassidy ik Son, lUl Park avenue, lighting fix¬ tures. The new structure is now erected so as to include the cornice directly over the fourth story. Provisions have been made so that in future the superstruc¬ ture may be added. The building occu¬ pies a plot 60x100 feet, and includes a spacious lobby and auditorium on the hrst tioor with coat rooms and lavatorie? on the second floor. The synagogue ex¬ tends through the third and fourth tloors with the exception of the front of the building where the fourth floor space is to be used as a library, room for trus¬ tees, and gallery.
