The Timber Trades Journal ae follows:
London.
American Black Walnut—T'he trade in this has of
late been wthout material change. A fair amount of
bii-ine'ts continues to be done, but there can bo no
doubt that the heavy importations of lumber have
greaily interfered wi'h tbe sale of log«, very little
being done in the latter at the late public sale.
American Wnitewood.— \ fair amount of business
c^ntiQue'i in this, though for some time past cut stuff
has been selhng much more freely tha<i logs.
Americtn Satin Waluur,.—Allbou2:h in many ca-^es
cabinet-makers have exp•es'^ed tbems»'lves otherwise
thin favorably concerniug ibis woodgenf rally, there
is now a more hopeful feeling entertained as to its
future, and the prospect of an mcreased demand has
already given sume stimulus to business; and, fur¬
ther, we understand, th-re are inquiries for it from
sources likely to lead to a more extended trade.
