Bing & Bing Buy Continental Hotel.
M. & L, Hess have sold for the Herter
estate to Bing & Bing the old Continetal
Hotel property at the northeast corner of
Broadway and 20th street for about $1,-
300,000. The site has a frontage of about
100 feet on Broadway, with an L to 21st
street, and contains 16,000 square feet.
A twenty-story store and left building
will be erected on the site. A building
loan of $1,800,000 has been obtained for
tills purpose.

LEONARD ST.-The Charles F. Noyes Co. sold

Heatli estate. 117 and 119 Leonard st. a busi¬
ness buildins covering a plot 45x50. The
buyer is Theodore Burt Sayre, the playwright,
who recently bought several do-w-ntown proper¬
ties through the same brokers. TUe property
adjoins the small corner at Lafayette and
Leonard sts and abuts the Merchants' Asso¬
ciation Building and is in the same block as
the New York Life Insurance B'uilding, -which
occupies the entire block on Broadway, between
Lafayette and Leonard sis, to Calharine lane.

The old mansion still stands on tbe top of
the hill on the west side of Fort Washington
av, bet 160th and 161st sis, and was occupied
from 1S04 to 1806 by James Madison, the fourth
President of the United States.

lessee will remodel the building by adding stores

rooms. The lease carries with it an option
to purchase the property at any time within

the park will be utilized as an amusement park.
One of the conditions in the lease stipulates

the corner as a concert hall for several years.
